Just caught a bit on Sky Arts of Carole King doing Tapestry live in Hyde Park. Recently? Anyhoo, she did this, partially duetting with a video of her younger self. Here’s her younger self…

Thanks for the update on Tim’s demise Herm.

I’m still reeling from the shock of Chris Evert’s disqualification.I’m amazed she managed to keep that package in her nether regions concealed for so many years.I honestly had no idea.

Hope all’s fine and dandy on the borders.

Does Tim in a suit remind anyone else of Jeremy Twunt?

  4. polly says :

I’m not that interested in tennis, but thought it would have been nice for Venus Williams to win, purely in the interests of the older lady (relatively speaking). However I see she didn’t.

  5. Paul says :

I suspect the sheer effort of getting to the final had taken it’s toll on Venus. At 37 her body was always going to need more time to recover than a younger opponent-time she didn’t have given the Wimbledon playing schedule.

I’m not a tennis fan but kudos to the Williams sisters for their contribution to the womens game. And the fact they’re still able to compete at top level in their mid 30’s against some formidable younger opponents..

I see Tony Blair is off again. As he’s keen on religion, can no one persuade him to join a silent order of something or other?

  7. justamentalpatient says :

She was gracious in defeat, too.

  8. justamentalpatient says :

    Jeremy Hunt

    Time Henman

  9. Paul says :

Polly, If there’s any justice in this world Blair will face charges for war crimes. And if found guilty will spend the rest of his life in solitary confinement in a maximum security prison with nothing but an inflatable Cherie for company.

I’m really not certain how this is $200k worth of damage. Some may say it’s an improvement…But in any case, surely they can just pick it up?

  11. emmachisset says :

re those domino things that fell over, it’s standard ‘elf and safety to bolt things like that to the floor, -so they don’t fall over. Doh.

eg a few weeks ago a kid was killed in a shop when something like that toppled after being knocked, and fell on him.

  12. emmachisset says :

    that was a fun evening,

left at half four for a quick spin on the bike, up old Winchester hill ( which is nowhere near Winchester) but is one of the highest bits of Hampshire.

Got up there ok, then took a different route home as suggested by Satnav, teh ffucking thing took me east for about 6 miles along the South Downs Way before I realised,

no lights, not long to sunset, didn’t know where i was ……………gah, all was well , eventually.

Not a clue what Blair thinks he’s doing or who he’s imagined he’s spoken to who will undo/re-do the EU just for him. Can’t think why he imagines he still has any credibility either.

  14. fiftyoneandabitmorenow says :

Emms, I’d have come down the hill I’d just gone up with my leggies akimbo and off the pedals like I used to when I was about 10 and visiting grandparents on the other side of a big hill. 😉

  15. polly says :

That’ll be IKEA emms, IKEA furniture is always killing children thanks to being flimsy and likely to fall over.

My kitchen units had an insane way of fixing them to the wall if I’d used the IKEA method, which would have cost about another £20, so I got some 49p brackets from wilkos. Did the trick.

  16. fiftyoneandabitmorenow says :

It was in a shop, a women’s clothing store if I recall correctly, Polly. Was some “And this is today’s offer” stand thingy beside the tills that fell on the child. I went to Ikea once, almost didn’t get out, never went back. I don’t even like meatballs. 😉

  17. NuitsdeYoung says :

It’s a pity it’s Blair, because he’s just toxic. But I will never respect or accept the result of the referendum, I will never forgive or forget, and I would welcome an invasion from the mainland, if it came to it.

  18. Paul says :

I’ve never stepped foot in an IKEA store -not once. And it’s not on my wishlist of things to do before i kick the bucket.

  19. fiftyoneandabitmorenow says :

^The tills did not fall on the child, syntax, 51, syntax!^

  20. Paul says :

ps apparently most stores have inhouse cafes where they serve swedish delicacies like reindeer bollocks on ryebread.

  21. Paul says :

    cue the swedish chef

  22. fiftyoneandabitmorenow says :

Will the BBC please stop fooking up the schedules with bloody Wimbledon?! Or give me back my licence fee?!

  23. Paul says :

    nite chundies

And my uncle isn’t and isn’t life a fucker. My bezzie said the death of a parent would be a rollercoaster, emotionally. So she emailed me to ask how the ride is going. Jeez, I have no answer. I’m not gonna die imminently but he is. He’s a fab bloke, so awful, another thing I’ll have to see my Mum through, she came down here last week to have “someone to cry with”.

The other scary thing, btw, was years and years ago, the Yorkshire Ripper was around and I was walking home alone in Yorkshire, I will never know if it was him or not. Obvs, I was fine, I didn’t walk up as far as he hid, I saw him (or whoever it was) run and hide. Still know the time and date, though, 40 years later.

  25. fiftyoneandabitmorenow says :

Sorry, this all sounds mad. There’s been 4 awful things in 3 years to deal with. I am not at all certain I am anything close to sane. But I hope you liked the music.
