    yes thanks, IoW is great,

lost no weight tho, despite the cycling, but then i did have a huge wedge of cake as a starter before the lobster for lunch, might have to change my dietary habits 🙂

did the Tennyson trail today, v. pleasant, he’s from there i think, chalk downs, very hilly and breezy,

thought for a while that i was superhuman, then eventually realised i was reading the distance off the map in km, but thinking it was miles.

back to work tomorrow, disciplinary meeting first thing

the ****S emailed me about it last week during my holiday, – they could have mentioned it before, or just left it till after,

not very nice imo, and last time he actually said ‘we’re trying to be nice about this’.

fingers crossed, i’m waiting on interview results for a job,

    Paul,

did you see this article ?

haven’t read it yet, but living above people is sure better than being below, if they happen to be noisy f’ers.

In the new flat, I can hear the upstairs folk at times, but it doesn’t bother me too much. It beats having to put a bucket on the bed in winter because of condensation from the bedroom skylight, which I’ve had to do in the top floor flat in Glasgow, though I will miss my tapdancing birdlets.

Still curious as to where on IoW the 18C hotel is…

  10. emmachisset says :

    hi Nuits,

(thought i named it earler but my phone may have played up)

it’s in Newport, the Calvert Arms hotel, claims to be from c. 1730

  11. emmachisset says :

    oops, that’s a picture 🙂

  12. NuitsdeYoung says :

That is very interesting – it’s been a fine townhouse. The bay windows look like 19C additions, in place of small-paned sash windows like those on the adjacent bar. The porch also would be a later addition. The statue looks elegant, but again perhaps later (Art Nouveau rather than NeoClassical?).

    This is fab…

  14. NuitsdeYoung says :

    Hoped ‘twould amuse!
