Arguably, the most important tree is the 100 year old Huntingdon Elm on the junction of Chelsea Road and Union Road.

Somehow, it has survived two waves of the deadly Dutch Elm Disease which has killed nearly all old elm trees in the world. This makes the tree of international importance in terms of its genetic diversity and potential immunity.

The tree is also host to a colony of the rare White Letter Hairstreak butterfly, a species that has declined by 96% in the last 40 years due to the loss of elm trees which are its only habitat.

this song always reminds me of the pub over the road from work where we had a beer many/most days, when big tv screens in pubs were a new thing…it got played endlessly.

Oi be a common person, not “high calibre” enough to be a trustee (seriously, some folk have V old fashioned ideas).

We had a victory today, so I will be having a good old sin along.
    Thank you, emms.

I’ve grown to really like Patti Austin’s cover of the following track which was originally recorded by Randy Crawford -also with the Crusaders.

  12. emmachisset says :

never heard of her, Laura Nylo, but the song’s pretty good, ( even if it does sound like others , Motown etc, but now’t wrong with that )

And the board meeting was fab.

    Really reassuring.

People I worried were not really with us were in full agreement that last week showed how we are on the right path. No fighting, no aggro.

    YES!

  24. justamentalpatient says :

Recommend going out, stretching your arms out, turning your face to the sky and enjoying the rain. Breathe that lovely, lovely air in, my friend.

If your garden is overlooked, wear a t-shirt, though!
