Why is the Graun always on about ‘Canadian identity’?
If we spent an iota of time worrying about ourselves as much as everyone else seems to worry about us, we’d never get anything done.
Mostly, we just get on with things without the eternal naval gazing writers like this seem to think we do…honestly, the Graun gets the oddest canucks to write about canuckia…and the comments verge on the bizarre…
Oh sorry, kind of a crap totp, compared to the more entertaining comments here today.
Emms re your sensor.
I thought “put up a cloth” but then I thought “Nah, you prolly don’t want a cloth or you’d have one up already” ( … sort of). Then I thought “Why not stick a small bit of card next to the sensor slightly blocking its “vision” to your corridor?”.
That’s my best thunk so far.
I think that you guys confuse folk, inty.
“It’s like the USA, but it’s not. What’s that all aboot?”
‘s a good idea Sleeps, had a look at it, but can’t see the sensor, it just looks like an ordinaryish bulb behind frosted glass, v. bright, i’ll get the shades on tomorrow and investigate further…
The Search Is On.
Watch out, sensors everywhere.
There must be a direct line between your body, through the window, and to the sensor.
Detective Chow at your service.
So G briefly, subtly and gently told H that he’s going for surgery.
Just that he’s going in on the 17th and will see her the next day. The doc’s think that removing some squishy bits will solve his toilet/bladder problems he’s been having and he’ll not be able to climb for a couple of weeks.
She was fine with that.
Quite an anti-climax really, thank goodness.
Oh, and he mentioned it will be key-hole surgery so he won’t have great big scars.
Oh, and that I’d be picking her up from school instead of G or (usually) both of us.
To The Kitchen.*
*Whilst carefully eyeing the washing machine …
Was H disappointed at lack of scarrage?
Scars are cool!
It’s what we’re not, as well as what we are justa 🙂
in other news just had a fire alarm, but no fire…everyone out into the cold…all OK
Bowie doc coming up on BBC2, chaps.
Must be a good Bowie doc…
james good sarcasm in the comments of the Brexit article 🙂
G has enough scars to entertain H but she would be interested to see fresh ones, Justa.
We’ll see if there are any showable …
Apart from 102% of the medical staff in South Wales and my Mum, no-one’s seen my scars. Sounds like she took it in her stride, Sleeps, good. xx
Not recently. Oops.
G was very casual, 51.
Same, same n all that.
If it goes any further (chemo etc) then further explanation will be forthcoming.
Inty, the thing that fascinates me about Canadinuckians is, how do you put up with all that cold?
Yeah, won’t really be avoidable, Sleeps. And the path doesn’t always go where you think it’s going but I was glad to read you have a good 1st point of contact nurse, which I have and I don’t know what I’d do without her, even now. xx
It’s a dry cold 51, here anyway, so not much damp.
Different for places like Vancouver or Toronto, being on the waters as they are.
Turtlenecks, sweaters, sorrels (a type of boot), hooded parkas, toques, mitts, block heaters and auto starters for the cars, studded tires (around here anyway – people all clanking about for five or so months)…and of course on the many clear days and nights everything sparkles.
That’s what we tell you lot…some days it’s a pain in the ass, but here we stay so it must be something in our DNA. Either that or we are completely nuts!
Not so good for the homeless though, but all the shelters, churches and some community centres (if needs be) open and offering people and their pets a place to get warm, eat and sleep.
It’s going to be a ling one this year – even in places like Vancouver where it doesn’t usually snow much, but it is cold and snowy there this year…revenge for all the smug Vancouverites jogging on the sea wall in shorts in 10-15 +C in December the past few years!
That’s prob the UK’s entire fleet of snow ploughs right there, Inty. 😉
To be fair, they’re pretty good here in Wales but in the English cities I’ve lived in, especially in the south, 2 flakes makes a snowstorm and everything stops. Ooh, another chance to post this, best thing my local Council ever came up with. Just hope I’m not tempting fate, this was a few years ago and it snowed Jan until April:
Sorry, inty. Got distracted by a twat on a disability thread on the graun.
well 51, they don’t have fleets of these in Vancouver either…we do up here though, good thing!
No apols needed justa…I’ve been reading the (dimwit) comments on the thread about the Canadian economist warning about Brexit etc – that’s where James’ funny sarcasm was!
He does do sarcasm quite well, our james!
Michael Caine piloting a seaplne on FV33, fiddy.
I know, and there’s a bloomin’ big fish involved somewhere, Justa. I’m with Wagner (loathe Wagner but they’ve played none so far) and Lewis on 10. 😉
Might pop a dvdvd on and stop playing with the twat.
But he makes it so easy…
