I’m sure I’ll stop very soon, but I just loved Mott the Hoople’s take on Bowie’s “All The Young Ludes”…
Very funny everyone, enjoyed reading the name changes…xen your 2:44 was inspired!
Today’s essay question, 10 pages, typed, double spaced:
“Is the EU a failed concept?”
Brown Girl in the Ring, was about slavery – at auctions the slaves were made presentable then paraded in a ring so the potential bidders could have a look.
““Is the EU a failed concept?”
hmm, maybe, like communism, it hasn’t been tried properly yet.
Always seemed to me the EU was a dodgy deal.. If you’re going to create a federal europe then it needs to be done properly.
eg i’ve often heard of taxes etc having to be changed to fit in with other eu countries, yet in the case of wine we are still taxed far heavier than others,
ie we don’t get access to the cheap booze of France and Spain for example, and it distresses me that their winemakers don’t have equal access to the uk wine markets. Very unfair.
The first draft of This Be the Verse is nice: ‘They tuck you up, your mum and dad’
The song was actually about a childrens game played in the Caribbean and thought to originate in Jamaica.
Larkin certainly had a point Leo.
I know it’s a bit premature but as i rarely get totp i’d like to be the first to play a xmas song for 2016.
It’s only 61 days away and some London stores already have their xmas displays out.or so i’m told.
Oh and don’t forget to turn your cocks back this weekend Chundies.
And after that short burst of posts i’m off
But then we wouldn’t know if were cummin or goin, Paul…
It’s not even Hallowe’en yet, or Remembrance Day either, stores in this town get complaints if they put up their Christmas stuff before Remembrance Day.
That being said, I have started my shopping…what does everyone want?
emms, you can’t get French wines? Spanish sherries? Liqueurs?
From the Vancouver Sun, this falls into the category of WTF?
Cumin is very good in Mexican food xen…do they use it much in Spain?
From the Ottawa Citizen:
you could be right Paul, my version was the official Guardianista one, i’d been indoctrinated, but i’m getting better now
we can get them, but not at the same prices as on the mainland.
I saw on the shelf today, a Beetroot and Goat cheese loaf,
also with cumin, was mentioned in small print.
Talking to yourself, emms? (your 20.10)
Doh! Silly me.
Sorry, should stop flitting between sites….makes muggins confooseded!
How are the dawgs and hoomans?
The mr is still working out of town, was just home for three days and will be back on Friday hopefully.
doggies are fine, although the beagle and the marrema are feeling a bit harassed by the rapidly growing won’t back down baby puppy who thinks that they are chew toys.
The beagle calls him off by curling his lip and letting out a low growl, while the marrema just puts a paw on him to make him sit!
Jack has taken to lying on the opposite side of me to Tilly. Lovely and warm, but not great when it comes to moving.
Last night he had pinned my legs against madam. Moved quite readily, but then flopped on my pillow…
The cheeky bastard!
Doggies, gotta love ’em!
This morning the other two were in their pen, and the darling was home with baby puppy…when she turned her back he had a whole ball of yarn spread from the living room to the kitchen and all round the dining table in between.
Then he apparently knocked over my cross stitch box with all the threads for my current project!
I don’t know how to send pics from my phone via computer (tecchy loser) but he looks very much like this:
They’re buggers, but we love ’em!
Will see if I can provide a photo of “the bastard”. Bound to take me a while, though…
Nuits a wee message for you before I exeunt, followed by bear, for the night.
Other chundies have offered tips that are well worth bearing in mind and I’m sure we are all here for you as much as we can be in chundieland. Supporting each other is what chundies do, irrespective of silly scraps.
Take care of yourself and your lovely dad.
Hope all is going positively with you both.
